March Director-y

This month, join Gary Raham for his presentation, “Wandering on the dinosaurs’ last seashore,” and enjoy a journey to an ancient Colorado that features dinosaurs, sea monsters, giant crocodiles, and some surprising creatures that helped transform their world into the Colorado we enjoy today. Learn how Raham’s fossil hunting adventures and his love of good writing inspired his graphic short story, “The Dinosaurs’ Last Seashore.” See amazing fossils and some of the original art created for the work. Books available for purchase at $9.50 each.

Raham is the author (and sometimes illustrator) of 14 books about science and nature. He also writes science fiction and is a regular columnist for the North Forty News and Colorado Gardener magazine. His book, The Restless Earth: Fossils, was a finalist in the 2010 Colorado Author’s League Young Adult nonfiction book awards. See his website at www.biostration.com.

Come to the meeting and plan to go to Bruce & Sandy’s for the Dead Dog afterwards … always a good time!

Start planning now for John and Bonnie Doran’s annual Sci Fi Film Fest Alternate, followed two weeks later by the April meeting featuring Todd Neff. A former Boulder Daily Camera staff writer (2003-2007) who focused on science and the environment, his book From Jars to the Stars: How Ball Came to Build a Comet-Hunting Machine was published last year.

By the way, the Alternate at Laurie’s place was fun, and the Man Cave was awe-inspiring. Thanks again for hosting!

A group of us are heading to Lafayette on March 20 for the 6 p.m. show of Robots at Play … I’ll try to do a review for next DASFAx.

Yours in fandom,
Rose
